Introducing Verily Pre, the platform to accelerate AI for precision health

In February, I shared Verily’s strategy for leading healthcare’s AI transformation, and how we’re orienting our products to achieve this goal, while pursuing our vision to power precision health for everyone, every day.

Today we announced two important updates to our portfolio: Verily Me, our new consumer health app providing personalized health recommendations from licensed clinicians based on a review of medical history across providers and health systems. We also introduced the Lifelong Health Study, a research registry whose aim is to provide a multi-dimensional view of how health changes over time. These efforts demonstrate our commitment to enable care that is more predictive, preventive, and precise, and to build the underlying tools and infrastructure that make this possible.

We are just beginning to see the value that AI will bring for improving patient care. While the industry has made meaningful strides, some of the most impactful AI use cases are yet to be fully realized. We imagine a future when individualized care and precision medicine are the norm, where AI agents seamlessly reduce the burden on clinicians, clinicians have more time to focus on their patients, the high cost of care can be lowered, and where clinical evidence generation keeps pace with biomedical innovation. We believe we are entering an era where AI assistants will provide personalized, proactive support for disease management and prevention, empowering everyone to take control of their health like never before.

As we navigate this new chapter, Verily is uniquely positioned to lead. Building on a decade of sustained innovation and a deep understanding of healthcare’s most complex challenges, we are ready to unlock what is possible.

At the core of our strategy is Verily’s AI-native precision health platform. Today we unveil its name, Pre. Purpose-built for healthcare, Pre empowers researchers and innovators to harmonize, exchange, govern, and analyze biomedical data and build and deploy AI models and agents directly into care and research workflows.

The Verily Pre platform powers all of Verily’s precision research and care solutions. At its core are three synergistic data solutions, that are now available to customers:

Refinery, Pre's powerful curation engine ingests, harmonizes, and enriches siloed, multimodal data — transforming it into a structured, research and AI-ready data asset, using our clinically informed, FHIR-native data model.

Exchange, a centralized and secure forum for researchers and innovators to share and access AI-ready datasets, models, and agents to advance precision research and care.

Workbench, our scalable trusted research environment (TRE), combines collaborative research features, analytics tools and a cloud-transparent infrastructure to accelerate and elevate data analytics and governance enterprise-wide.

Together, these solutions, and the entire Pre platform, enable health systems, life science companies, and payers to streamline data management and analysis needed to train the next generation AI-based models that will transform research and care.

Pre was designed and built with integrated AI features and tools, Verily Intelligence, which supports everything from data extraction and clinical labeling to model training and deployment. Verily Intelligence, a component of the platform, combines the expertise of clinicians and informaticists with robust analytics and AI training tools to create clinically-informed AI models and agents for real-world healthcare settings.

We already put Pre to work today. Our new consumer health app, Verily Me, provides patients with free personalized health recommendations from licensed clinicians, based on a review of medical records across multiple providers and health systems. They also can use Violet, a private AI companion, to ask questions about their health record. In our Lightpath care program, offered by health plans and employers through the Verily Me app, Violet also serves as an AI companion, alongside a dedicated team of human clinicians, helping users set, track, and achieve individual health goals. All of these solutions require harmonization and enrichment of health data in Pre, and AI tools to enable Violet. In addition, Verily Intelligence enables the AI workflows in our Viewpoint Clinical Operations solutions, including transforming PDF protocols into dynamic data models that help accelerate trials and reduce costs.

We built and tested Pre over the last three years, with a focus on AI governance, auditability, and the security required to handle healthcare data at scale. In a rapidly evolving health tech landscape, we have been very intentional about what sets Pre apart:

First, our platform design. Pre is engineered at the component level for auditability and compliance, critical for health systems, biopharma, and medical device companies. Our significant investment in privacy, data security and regulatory adherence, draws on our multi-disciplinary expertise, and benefits from our Google X roots.

Second, our unique clinically-informed model. The Pre platform standardizes healthcare data using a FHIR based format, ensuring data quality, clinical enrichments, and readability. This standardization, combined with built-in governance, security and clinically-informed guardrails, prepares datasets for advanced analytics, AI, and interoperability across systems, including conversion to other data models, such as OMOP.

Third, our data resources for researchers. Verily is rapidly becoming the destination platform for researchers to co-analyze, build, and deploy insights. Our customers, including major pharma and healthcare systems, are already realizing meaningful impact from our offerings actively using our platform to accelerate their research and development. Pre powers the next generation of the NIH’s All of Us Research Program’s Researcher Workbench, which supports 19K+ registered researchers globally.

Our collaboration with UCHealth, the University of Colorado Anschutz, and RefinedScience demonstrates Pre’s power. In our initial work, we achieved over 95% accuracy and 30x faster data extraction versus manual methods in developing clinically-informed AI models for Acute Myeloid Leukemia patients. This success led to a multi-year collaboration further validating our approach.

We firmly believe that Pre is the platform poised to fuel the broad-scale adoption of AI in healthcare. We are continuing to invest in and drive AI innovation across all our solutions, which will show what is possible when we apply Pre and Verily Intelligence to address challenges in care and clinical research.

Our committed customer base already spans critical parts of the healthcare ecosystem. These include payers and providers such as Geisinger and AdventHealth, life sciences and research leaders such as Otsuka, Helix, and the Michael J. Fox Foundation, and public sector organizations, including funding from the CDC and the NIH. This diverse customer base provides a strong commercial foundation as we now extend our platform and AI product offerings.
