Verily, UCHealth, University of Colorado Anschutz, and RefinedScience launch strategic collaboration for AI-powered research and care transformation

Foundational effort will use Verily’s platform to accelerate research, improve patient care, and drive system-wide innovation

Dallas, TX – October 14, 2025 – Verily today announced a multi-year strategic collaboration with UCHealth, the University of Colorado Anschutz, and RefinedScience to transform how data is used and care is delivered, supported by Verily’s deep domain expertise and built-for-purpose healthcare technology capabilities.

The agreement is grounded in a joint commitment to transform patient care and precision medicine through the latest advancements in artificial intelligence, digital technology and medical science. As a cornerstone of the collaboration, CU Anschutz and UCHealth will aggregate biomedical data on the Verily platform, creating AI-ready, research-grade biomedical data pipelines and developing novel AI/ML models across key therapeutic areas, including oncology, cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, neuroscience and ophthalmology, and transplant medicine. CU Anschutz researchers will collaborate using Verily's trusted research environment, Verily Workbench, which enables secure and scalable handling of data within robust governance and consent frameworks.

The CU Anschutz campus is an ideal environment for this work as it fosters a vibrant and collaborative ecosystem that fuels groundbreaking research, clinical excellence, and entrepreneurial innovation. CU Anschutz Innovations, located on the campus, is a critical hub for research, data science, clinical care, and venture capital, playing a pivotal role in accelerating the development and commercialization of transformative discoveries. UCHealth further redefines healthcare delivery through their CARE Innovation Center where novel solutions are developed, validated, and optimized to improve decisions at the bedside and improve outcomes.

"This collaboration will transform how we manage information and use AI to deliver personalized care to our patients using a modern health technology infrastructure," said Steve Hess, Chief Information Officer at UCHealth. "The ability to organize, enrich, and analyze complex data at scale will empower our researchers and clinicians to make novel discoveries faster than ever before."

CU Anschutz and UCHealth further partnered around multiomic data and technology through the creation of RefinedScience, a joint venture that combines high-fidelity data with cutting-edge science and technology and world-class expertise to inform smarter drug discovery and development. RefinedScience’s transformative insights identify and validate novel drug targets, design smarter clinical trials, and forge paths for stalled clinical-stage drug candidates. Verily and RefinedScience will explore developing cutting-edge tools and techniques for analyzing complex biological data.

“This effort will be instrumental in delivering on our commitment to innovation and will establish what we believe is the new collaboration model for other health systems going forward.” said Kimberly Muller, Vice Chancellor for Innovation and Biotechnology and Executive Director of CU Anschutz Innovations at the Anschutz Medical Campus. “Given the changes in the business of health care, this will be critical in ensuring we can advance and fund the innovation we need to accelerate life changing discoveries and amplify patient impact.”

UCHealth, the University of Colorado Anschutz, and RefinedScience also intend to leverage the full breadth of Verily’s product portfolio, accelerate system-wide technology strategies, co-develop next generation capabilities, and diversify revenue streams.

“Care innovation is at our core, and Verily’s platform technology will allow us to build upon this mission at an unprecedented pace and scale.” said Dr. Richard Zane, Chief Medical and Innovation Officer at UCHealth. “We couldn’t be more excited about what we plan to soon build together because ultimately, it will allow us to deliver the best possible care for our patients and we know it will save lives.”

As part of an initial collaboration, RefinedScience and Verily demonstrated success in developing clinically informed AI models on complex report types from patients with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, achieving over 95% accuracy and 30x faster data extraction versus manual methods. The collaboration will build on these results, expanding into additional data modalities and therapeutic areas, and continuing progress in high acuity diseases with unmet need.

"We are proud to collaborate with UCHealth, the University of Colorado Anschutz, and RefinedScience and share their vision for using technology to advance best-in-class care for patients," said Stephen Gillett, CEO at Verily. "Our platform and solutions are designed to transform complex, unstructured healthcare data into organized, actionable insights, enabling our customers and collaborators to accelerate scientific discovery and improve care for patients and their communities.”
