One Brave Idea is a $75 million research grant provided by Verily in partnership with the American Heart Association and AstraZeneca dedicated to a single visionary approach to preventing and reversing coronary heart disease (CHD). The winner of the grant is Dr. Calum MacRae, chief of cardiovascular medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and his broad multidisciplinary team.
The vision for One Brave Idea was to create an innovative model for scientific research by bringing together significant resources and diverse organizations to support a single vision. In order to move the needle on the global problem of CHD, Verily, the American Heart Association and AstraZeneca have committed to collectively invest $75 million in a transformative research grant directed toward an ambitious approach to CHD and its consequences. Our hope is that this initiative will catalyze other similar grants that provide rapid and durable funding.
