No one could have foreseen the challenges in healthcare that would confront all of us this year. At Verily, we have been hard at work on providing products and services to address both the COVID-19 pandemic and the chronic healthcare issues that existed before COVID-19 and that have been exacerbated by the pandemic. This is a time of evolution in our industry, where access and affordability are critical to public health. We are excited to welcome Cynthia Patton as our general counsel as we continue to navigate the changing environment and to expand our efforts in COVID-19 and beyond.
Cynthia joins us from Amgen, where she most recently served as senior vice president and chief compliance officer, responsible for Amgen’s global privacy and compliance organization, and as chair of the Amgen Foundation. Cynthia has been with Amgen since 2005, holding a number of positions including vice president in the Amgen law department with responsibility for commercial legal activities in the United States, and lead commercial lawyer for both the oncology and inflammation business units. Prior to Amgen, she served as general counsel of SCAN Health Plan, a California Health Maintenance Organization (HMO).
We live in a world where there is an enormous amount of healthcare information and data. But the healthcare system is complex and information is not equally accessible or utilized. The goal is to use that information to help all people to get better access to care. Verily understands the need and is already making a difference. I am excited about the opportunity to work with a dynamic and dedicated team to put health data to action.” - Cynthia Patton, Verily General Counsel
Cynthia brings a wealth of experience and perspective to Verily, and we’re looking forward to working with her on shaping Verily’s culture, and growing and developing our legal team.
